Greyhounds

We first became interested in adopting a greyhound in the fall of 1999 after seeing a show on the Animal Planet about them.  It was not until February of 2000 that we traveled to the track in Birmingham in search of a fawn male, instead we came back with Gracie.  Over the next nine months we fostered several other greyhounds.  During the time around the 2000 presidential election we were fostering a fawn male. We chipped and Max joined the family. Since that time we work with the Greyhound Pets of America - Tennessee Chapter. We have fostered and helped placed over 20 greys since then.  Our latest adventure is a trip to Spain to bring back two Galgos a close relative of the Greyhound.

Adult greyhounds are an amazing creature.  Animal anthropologists believe the breed has been around for about 8000 years and it is the only breed mentioned by name in the Bible.  These animals are like puppies, yet are mature adults.  They are playful, curious, smart, gentle and want to be with you.

Some of our favorite links are below.  From those you can access a wealth of information on these gentle creatures.
